Chaos Goblin News
Hello!
And Welcome to Feral Quill
by Hannah Calver
Feral Quill was born when I was encouraged by a friend — and Voice Actor, Book Villainess — to create a t-shirt featuring the MMC from Maledix, Derrion Nightshade.
I really enjoyed the creative experience of designing and then creating the t-shirt and, me being me, I immediately started designing other merchandise — all inspired by my novel Maledix.
Maledix is very much a product of TikTok. I wrote and published it in 28 days, and it truly gripped people’s imaginations. The support I received was phenomenal.
I am currently in the middle of writing Book II (though it’s taking a little longer than expected — setting up a shop and creating merchandise takes a lot of time!) and I’m hoping to have both Book II and Book III written and published by the end of June 2026… or mid-July at the latest.
So — hi! My name is Hannah.
“Calver” is my pen name, though it’s still a family name — my paternal grandmother’s maiden name, in fact.
I have a PGCE with QTS in Primary Education, but I had to leave full-time teaching due to health issues. Last year, I was diagnosed with ADHD, alongside strong ASD traits (which I still need formally assessed). The fact I made it to my forties undiagnosed in a world that often feels very loud and overwhelming is honestly a feat in itself.
Now, I teach online, write, draw, and create merchandise for Feral Quill — all while trying to navigate websites and business systems without immediately descending into overwhelm.
It also means I get to spend more time with Jaxen — aka Mega Puppy — our currently 8½-month-old Portuguese Cattle Dog, who is rapidly becoming the love of my life.
All of my books are heavily inspired by the landscapes around Gloucestershire and the Forest of Dean here in the UK — with Maledix also drawing deeply from the wild beauty and atmosphere of Scotland.
I have written and published five books, with lots more brewing in my head and my various notebooks...
The Elementals Series
The story of twins Tennyson and Aura Wiseman, who discover their sibling bond may run far deeper than they ever imagined. Supernatural? Absolutely. Yes — vampires and werewolves are involved.
Tethered and Shackled — with the third and final book, Riven, coming later this year.
(Fantasy / Romantasy)
The VeilForged Chronicles
Veilborn — the world of Tethered goes fae.
A spin-off and standalone series set within the world of Tethered, it follows the Shepperd siblings — thirteen children who discover their births were anything but ordinary.
Veilborn follows the main protagonist, Shep, the oldest of the Shepperd siblings, as he battles to find his place in the world and comes to realise that perhaps he was never meant to live a fully human life.
I’m also hoping to publish Veilborn Oath this year.
(Romantasy… and spicy, featuring a strong LGBTQ+ couple in Hallam and Sam, alongside a naughty imp who quite literally sweeps a human off her feet.)
Maledix
A tale of fated love, memory loss, obsession, and the trauma of love.
A dark romantasy with teeth.
(Definitely super spicy.)
There are lots of exciting things happening around Maledix, so stay tuned.
So… Why “Chaos Goblin”?
Because I’ve always felt like I have one foot in reality and one foot in imagination.
Because my brain doesn’t operate on the same frequency as everyone else’s.
Because creativity, ideas, stories, art, and chaos seem to live in my head simultaneously at all times.
And honestly?
I think there’s something a little magical about that.
Thank you for being here.
Welcome to Feral Quill.
